Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains what information Indie Music Blog ("we," "our," or "us") collects when you visit pixanami.com (the "Site"), how we use it, and the choices you have. The short version: we collect very little, we don't sell it, and we don't use advertising or tracking cookies.
1. Information you give us
We only collect personal information that you choose to send us through the forms on the Site:
- Contact form: your email address, your message, and your first and last name if you choose to include them.
- Mailing list: your email address.
- Music submissions: a link to a song, an artist name and a song title. Submissions don't ask for your personal contact details.
Names, email addresses and messages from the contact form and mailing list are encrypted before they're stored.
2. Information collected automatically
- Privacy-friendly analytics: we use our own self-hosted analytics, which doesn't use cookies. When you load a page it records the page address, the time, your browser's user agent (browser and device type) and the referring page. Your IP address is used to estimate your country and region, and is anonymized before it's stored (for example, the last part of an IPv4 address is removed). Visitors are counted using a hash that changes every day, so visits can't be tied together across days. If your browser sends a Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signal, you aren't tracked at all. Analytics records are deleted automatically after about 13 months.
- Server logs: like most websites, our web server keeps standard access logs (IP address, time, page requested and browser information) to keep the Site running and secure. These are kept for a limited time and then deleted automatically.
- Spam and abuse prevention: your IP address is used briefly, in memory only, to limit how many times a form can be submitted. It isn't saved for this purpose.
3. How we use your information
- To read and reply to messages you send us.
- To send mailing list updates about new posts, if you subscribed.
- To listen to and consider music submissions. If we feature a submitted song, the artist name, song title and link may appear in a published post.
- To understand which pages are useful, and to keep the Site secure and free of spam.
We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information, and we don't share it with advertisers.
4. Cookies
The Site doesn't set any cookies for visitors. The only cookie we use is a login cookie for the site's administrators, which is set only when an administrator signs in.
5. Third-party services
- Hosting: the Site runs on servers we manage, hosted by a cloud provider. Your information is stored on those servers.
- Script library: the Site loads one JavaScript library (htmx) from the unpkg.com content delivery network. As with any website, that service receives your IP address and browser information when your browser downloads the file.
- External links: posts link to outside sites such as Bandcamp, SoundCloud, YouTube and Spotify. Images shown on the Site are stored on our own servers, not loaded from other sites. Once you follow a link off the Site, the other site's privacy policy applies, and we aren't responsible for its practices.
6. How long we keep information
- Contact form messages are kept until we delete them.
- Mailing list addresses are kept until you unsubscribe or ask to be removed.
- Music submissions are kept so we can keep track of what we've heard. Ask us if you'd like a submission removed.
- Analytics records and server logs are deleted automatically as described above.
7. Your choices and rights
You can ask us to show you, correct or delete the personal information we hold about you, or to remove you from the mailing list, at any time. Just send a request through our contact form. Mailing list emails will also include a way to unsubscribe.
8. Security
The Site is served over HTTPS, and contact and mailing list information is encrypted at rest. No method of storing or sending data over the internet is completely secure, but we work to protect the information you share with us.
9. Children's privacy
The Site is intended for people 13 and older. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you're under 13, please don't send us any personal information. If we learn that a child under 13 has sent us personal information, we'll delete it. If you believe this has happened, please let us know through the contact form.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we'll change the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
