06 Automatic Turned a Cold Basement Winter Into One of 2026's Most Unpredictable Debuts
Some debut albums arrive polished and planned. 1,000,000, the debut LP from Vancouver's 06 Automatic, arrived the other way — written in bursts, out of necessity, in a basement suite, and all the better for it.
06 Automatic is the project of Cameron D'Eith, a 26-year-old songwriter and producer based in Vancouver, BC. He started writing 1,000,000 in August 2024, shortly after moving into a small basement suite with friends. By his own account, the record came together almost accidentally: weeks of obsessive work, songs he loved one day and laughed at the next, tested on repeat through the blown speakers of his 2006 Honda Civic. That unfiltered process is all over the finished album — it's euphoric one minute, jarring the next, and never quite what you expect.
So what does it sound like? Think experimental electronic music with a pulse: intricate, restless production where beauty and destruction sit side by side. If you like Jane Remover, Meat Computer, or Chanel Beads, you'll feel right at home. Exclaim! named 06 Automatic one of its emerging artists to hear in October 2026, and Range Magazine described the project as "a pleasantly unpredictable electronic experiment" — a fair warning and a fair promise.
Live, the songs take on a second life. D'Eith performs with creative partner Creighton Taylor (who co-produced and mastered the album), and their shows lean improvisational — the two trading looks mid-song as something goes gloriously off-script, pulling the audience into the process.
Start here: Listen to 1,000,000 in full — it's the whole story in one sitting. Then dig back to Five Months in Manchester (2025) and Satisfaction of Sameness (2024) to hear how D'Eith got here.
